6 Top Web Design Trends for 2017

We expect 2017 to be a great year for all web designers and developers in Cyprus and abroad. It has been noted that a rising number of companies focus their attention on the digital world and invest a lot of their marketing recourses towards this direction.

International companies have already been investing time, resources and money for the improvement of their websites and the enhancement of their overall Digital presence.  Although Cyprus companies seem to be a step behind, recent findings indicate that many companies are indeed starting to invest in their Digital strategy and Digital presence with many new projects presented in the market to confirm this trend.

The new design trends will definitely define the web projects of 2017. Let’s see what the highlights of these trends are:

  1. Big, Bold Fonts and Typography

As we are giving more and more emphasis to the content of a website, fonts must follow this principle. The messages of a website must be clearly stated and ‘to the point’. So think of strong powerful statements and pass them to the customers and website visitors.

  1. Clean Layouts

And what we mean by that? Layouts must leave the content shine. The website is for your audience and not for the engines. A nice design doesn’t have to be complicated. The approach of a minimalistic design is better and works great in all devices.

  1. Focus on conversion

This principle applies for online stores but can also be used in any kind of business such as Hotels that accept bookings through their websites. Another sector is real estate where most of the businesses have a primary goal of getting more leads through contact forms and telephone calls directly from their websites. So bigger call to action buttons, clear messages and eye catching promotions are some of the actions you can take.

  1. Design for mobile first

This is the process of designing for a mobile device first and then for the bigger screens. This approach is actually the reverse approach than the one we used to work with. Now the mobile phones are officially named as the primary devices used for browsing the web.

  1. Originality vs Stock photography

Most of the new websites use similar patterns ending up having similar looks. In order to avoid this companies need to differentiated from the rest and invest in a unique look and authenticity.  Stock images, stock videos and stock icons must be avoided as much as possible in order for a website to stand out from the crowd. Use authentic photography and hire a professional Web Design agency for the work needed in regards to your website and your brand name in general.

  1. More Colours (but not a rainbow)

The previous year was definitely the year of rich colours online.  In the past a lot of designers stacked with the typical web-safe colours. Today more brands are being braver in their approach. The use of bolder and more courageous colours in web design helps to attract the attention of users. Although we must be careful not to alternate the brands image a lot.
